Benefits to be a lecturer

Yoohuh,

Still waiting for the o & a letter....

When I came back from MMU, I realised there are many benefits to be lecturer....

First, very flexible, if you don't have any classes, report to your dept head where you are going to be today and that's it. haha, no need to apply for leave.

Second, 30 days annual leave, what else I can say? 30 days for local university while 40 days for private university.

Third, your own office, how many years for you to escape cubicle and get your own office?

Forth, oversea conference all cost covered by university, you attend 1 day conference and visit here and there before you come back (Dept Head already told me not to do so....).

Fifth, 1 versus 300, 300 audiences listen to you, well this depends whether you like to deal with people or stuff? I would rather receive response from people than machine...

Sixth, Honor, your student greet you as Sir, like old Chinese said "you are 1 person below, million people above" hehe....

Seventh, no overtime, your main job is not teaching but research, reading papers, experiments, surveys, all can be done at home (if you don't have Internet at home nowadays?)

Eight, free course, free Master, free PhD. As long as you are staff in the university, no cost for you to do research based master/phd. Furthermore, you can attend classes that you think is related to your research field, no 1 will stop you doing so.

Ninth, free lance project and/or research request from company. If you aim for money instead of glory, take the research request from company, I am sure they pay well enough...

Tenth, you are improving peoples' live, I don't know about you but I feel that at least I am doing something useful to the world, rather than just making money....
