Privilege of Graduates
The new Chapter to my life has just began.
Yoy, finally graduated, thought there won't be any exam anymore in my life.....not really.
having the ambition to work as a lecturer pushes me to take my PhD. Have several idea in my mind on certain R&D but no access to journal or conference paper to support my point of view (人生最悲哀的事情莫過於此...誇張)
Realised that PhD is not the highest..... still have Higher Doctors (Permanent Head Damage(PHD) is not the highest, Decomposed Damage(DD) only the final stage, at least permanent head damage hasn't died ma....)
Privilege of becoming graduate is: put BSc (Hons) (Nottingham) behind my name...? what's that for? In return, What do I loose to get this privilege? All of my friend already found their jobs and have their own futures.... what is left of me? Each time I open the old song list and listen, the past plays frame by frame in my mind. Rushing for assignment due date, final year project extension, study until midnight for tomorrow exam, my small and humid room, the stupid fellow sang behind my house, etc etc....how come it's all bad memories.....
Friends are like guests in your life, some will stay and others will move on....

Department that I am going to work...
Benefits to be a lecturer
Yoohuh,
Still waiting for the o & a letter....
When I came back from MMU, I realised there are many benefits to be lecturer....
First, very flexible, if you don't have any classes, report to your dept head where you are going to be today and that's it. haha, no need to apply for leave.
Second, 30 days annual leave, what else I can say? 30 days for local university while 40 days for private university.
Third, your own office, how many years for you to escape cubicle and get your own office?
Forth, oversea conference all cost covered by university, you attend 1 day conference and visit here and there before you come back (Dept Head already told me not to do so....).
Fifth, 1 versus 300, 300 audiences listen to you, well this depends whether you like to deal with people or stuff? I would rather receive response from people than machine...
Sixth, Honor, your student greet you as Sir, like old Chinese said "you are 1 person below, million people above" hehe....
Seventh, no overtime, your main job is not teaching but research, reading papers, experiments, surveys, all can be done at home (if you don't have Internet at home nowadays?)
Eight, free course, free Master, free PhD. As long as you are staff in the university, no cost for you to do research based master/phd. Furthermore, you can attend classes that you think is related to your research field, no 1 will stop you doing so.
Ninth, free lance project and/or research request from company. If you aim for money instead of glory, take the research request from company, I am sure they pay well enough...
Tenth, you are improving peoples' live, I don't know about you but I feel that at least I am doing something useful to the world, rather than just making money....

A nervous, excited, sad then happy then sad interview
MMU is a well-known university in Malaysia. Recently they release a very good opportunity(at least I believe) for graduate student to join the university as a tutor cum R&D team.
Nervous
This was my 1st interview, of course nervous. Then I realised that the department head is quite a funny guy. I can say he check thoroughly to confirm that I am able to code in Object Oriented Programming( of course I am, C#, Java ). He checked my C# comic rental program, J2EE assignment, Final year project etc.... Then finally asked me to wait for 2nd interview.
Excited
Yeah! 2nd interview, so happy. That's because the dept head said it was going to be the dean of study interviewing this time. By the time I reached there, the dept head asked me for a lunch in cyberjaya somewhere (I also dunno where it is, luckily I was not kidnapped) and told me the interviewer is changed to the president.. cham....
Sad
Each and every word from the president is with needle (針針到肉).. the worst 1 is: "I see your face look like you want to find some job in the market"....some more asked me what do I think that Malaysian IT graduates cannot do programming.... how would I know (of course cannot answer like that) then I said Malaysian tends to learn from example instead from the basic theory such as RDBMS is derived from Set theory...(bluffing la)....
Happy
Got a called from the dept head, asked me to wait for the offer and acceptance letter.
Sad
I just found out that the minimum salary people request for MMU tutor is RM3900....I wrote RM2500 in my CV :'(
